Series based on a photo a friend took from the top of Washington’s Mount Si - overlooking the city of seattle. He captioned the photo “View of Seattle from the top of Mount Si.” - “I call the paintings “I can see your house from here.”
A series of paintings I did to capture what I thought about the jumpers from the Aurora Bridge in Seattle. After 10 years of working directly under the bridge, and coming across bodies on an almost weekly basis, I was getting numb to the terror and anonymity of it. So I did this series. I gave a jumper a face and a whole body. Its not meant to eulogize anyone. It’s meant to remind us that the event is personal. That we still have to feel it. And feel anything about it: sadness, rage, anger at the jumper. Loss. Anything greater than nothing.
